Holistic Psychotherapy For

Highly Sensitive Persons (HSP)

High sensitivity is not simply a matter of being easily affected by one’s surroundings. Rather, it is a distinctive and profound way of engaging with life. At the Holistic Psychotherapy Center, we tailor our approach to help highly sensitive people (HSPs) navigate the challenges of anxiety, trauma, and other emotional hurdles without exacerbating their heightened sensitivity. Through our holistic methods, HSPs can embark on a genuine healing journey that respectfully embraces their unique experiences.

Recognizing Triggers

Learning to recognize sensory and psychological signs before they become overwhelming.

Developing Boundaries

Developing skills of how to establish boundaries that protect from sensory and emotional overload with confidence and respect.

Self-Care Practices

Prioritizing self-care and incorporating techniques like meditation, visualization, and stress-reducing breathwork to restore balance in body and mind.
At the Holistic Psychotherapy Center we help Highly Sensitive People understand and navigate their experiences of heightened feelings and sensations. We understand that many HSPs are more prone to stress, anxiety, and emotional overload. This often causes deeper psychological issues and even physical issues like fatigue or mysterious pains and ailments.

Since many  HSPs have been told repeatedly that their reactions are “not real” or merely signs that they’re being overly self-centered or irrational, we begin by validating our patient’s feelings and experiences. We also teach patients proactive planning techniques to help release tension and regulate the nervous system, to avoid overstimulation, and help HSPs set boundaries to protect themselves from overstimulation and stress. These tools and strategies help to maintain a long-term sense of balance and groundedness.

We address the root of the issue individual HSPs face, while carefully avoiding retriggering them. While many therapists may use Cognitive therapy (CBT) we work within the boundaries of the HSP and integrate a variety of Holistic methods, from Energy Therapies to breathwork. This all helps regulate the nervous system and enables transformative work in a safe space.
